This was a translation error. This error was caused because silly translators ALWAYS translate Rikudou Sennin as a literal word instead of treating it as a title or name. They translate it to Sage of Six Paths. This is the same as translated Naruto as Ramen or Itachi as Weasel. This time this caused a shit error, because the word Sennin - Sage - wasn't used by Kishimoto and only Rikudou was present, thus it was translated to Six Paths. If you say Nidaime or Second Rikudou it makes nothing wrong, but as soon as you commit the stupidity of translating Rikudou to the literal meaning in English, it becomes Second Six Paths - to fix the error the word "of" is added and it becomes Second of the Six Paths and Third of the Six Paths.
